Nasheed Coleman is more than a doula and social worker, she is a mother who understands firsthand the joys and challenges that come with pregnancy and parenting. As a teen mom who gave birth prematurely twice, and later faced postpartum depression after her second birth, Nasheed’s journey deeply shaped her passion for supporting other mothers. She knows what it feels like to navigate uncertainty, recovery, and the need for compassionate, judgment-free care

With her background in social work and years of advocacy, Nasheed combines her professional expertise with her lived experience to ensure that families feel truly seen and supported. She is dedicated to reducing disparities in maternal health and believes every woman deserves access to respectful, high-quality care no matter their circumstances.
Through A Place for Ummi, Nasheed has created a welcoming space where mothers and families can find education, encouragement, and resources for a healthy pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. Families often describe her as warm, approachable, and deeply committed; someone who will walk with them every step of the way
